About Me

After breakfast she went out…determined to…learn something of the place and the people amongst whom she found herself. This grounding, she felt, was essential wherever you travelled on the planet… ~Alice Thomas Ellis
I’ve been traveling internationally since before I could walk and the question “Where are you from?” has no easy answer (and usually ends up with me telling my life story).
Eventually I graduated with a master’s degree in history, specializing in Medieval Europe. I could finally put context behind all those castles and cathedrals I would visit as a kid!
I’m also a language learner, so occasionally I may sneak in an article about my trials and tribulations with learning German.
Currently US-based, I travel as often as my full-time job allows.
My travel style? I try and see as much as possible every trip. I love exploring on my own, but am also happy to join a tour. You won’t find me counting how many countries I’ve been to (although I do keep track); instead, I like to build a relationship with a destination, sometimes visiting the same places over and over again as I get to know them better and discover them more deeply.
Now, I’m sharing my passion for travel and history with you!
About this blog
What you’ll find in this blog?
A mix of travel guides and narratives, practical tips, and some stuff just for fun!
What’s in the fun stuff? Take a look here to find out!
We look at various destinations and their rich histories from pre-history to modern times, along with related topics like culture and art.
All articles are 100% written by me from start to finish based on my travels. That means no AI, from an article’s conception to what you’re reading.
Join me as we journey to the world’s sometimes glorious, sometimes dark, but always fascinating past, meet its colorful characters, figure out what to pack in our suitcases and how to survive those long plane rides, and hopefully learn a thing or two along the way.
I’m so happy to have you along for the ride!
